Juntas Chicas: Day of the Dead Celebration and Performance

Goodhaven, the Forest Park Trust, Flushing Town Hall, Queens College and Senator Joe Addabbo present a Day of the Dead celebration featuring Juntas Chicas.

This family friendly program features live music from the Queens-based band Juntas Chicas, whose sound blends son jarocho, rancheras, and norteño with jazz, cumbia, and flamenco. There will be face painting, a craft table and a community ofrenda.

Doors are at 2:30pm and the music starts at 3pm.

Gabba Gabba We Accept You: Ramones Music, Reading and Crafts Workshop

Children of all ages! Come celebrate Forest Hills native sons the Ramones on the occasion of the newly published picture book "Gabba Gabba We Accept You: The Wondrous Tale of Joey Ramone," written by Jay Ruttenberg and illustrated by Lucinda Schreiber.

The book's creators will be joined by the guitarist and singer Kenneth Gordon, who will sing Ramones songs alongside a reading of the book and a fun crafts workshop!

Mariel Bildsten Sextet - Tribute to Cutty Cutshall

Mariel Bildsen's Sextet will present a tribute concert in honor of Woodhaven's only musician to be included in the prestigious Queens Jazz Trail Map, Cutty Cutshall.

Cutshall, who passed away on tour in 1968, lived right off Woodhaven Boulevard and played with legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Eddie Condon, and Benny Goodman. Expect an afternoon of classic jazz, arranged especially for this concert by Bildsten. The concert will also include a short historic introduction to give context to Cutshall's contributions to the music.
